Is Formspree Free? Plan Limits, Pricing, and What Free Lacks (2026)

October 10, 2026·By GoodInbound team

Formspree's free plan covers 50 submissions a month with 30 days of history. Every plan's limits, what's paid-only, real cost per 1,000 submissions, and when free is enough.

Yes, Formspree has a free plan, and it's built for testing more than for a live business form. It allows 50 submissions a month across your whole account, keeps them for 30 days, and leaves out redirects, file uploads, webhooks, and autoresponders. Paid plans start at $15 a month, or $10 a month billed yearly, for 200 submissions.

GoodInbound is a drop-in replacement for Formspree. Point your HTML form's action at a GoodInbound endpoint and keep the rest of your markup. On top of collecting submissions, GoodInbound:

  • Screens out spam and unsolicited pitches, whether a person or an AI wrote them, and labels every submission with a reason.
  • Enriches real leads with company and contact details.
  • Notifies you by email, Slack, or Telegram.
  • Runs built-in workflows that sync or feed each submission to the rest of your pipeline: your CRM, webhooks, and ad platforms.

The free plan covers 500 submissions a month. See how it compares in Formspree alternatives, or start free.

Everything below comes from Formspree's plans page and help docs, checked October 2026. Formspree changes its plans from time to time, so check the live page before you buy.

What Formspree is and how it works

Formspree is a hosted form backend. You create a form in its dashboard, get an endpoint like https://formspree.io/f/abcd1234, and set it as your HTML form's action. When someone submits, Formspree stores the submission, emails you, and passes it to any integrations you've set up. It works with any static site or framework, including plain HTML, React, Next.js, Astro, Hugo, and site builders that let you set a form action.

That's why it's popular for static and Jamstack sites: there's no server to run and no PHP mail script to maintain.

Setting up a Formspree form

Create a form in the Formspree dashboard, copy its endpoint, and use it as the form's action:

<form action="https://formspree.io/f/your-form-id" method="POST">
  <label for="email">Email</label>
  <input id="email" name="email" type="email" required>

  <label for="message">Message</label>
  <textarea id="message" name="message" required></textarea>

  <button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>

To submit without leaving the page, send the same form with fetch() and ask for JSON:

const form = document.querySelector("form");

form.addEventListener("submit", async (event) => {
  event.preventDefault();
  const res = await fetch(form.action, {
    method: "POST",
    body: new FormData(form),
    headers: { Accept: "application/json" },
  });
  form.innerHTML = res.ok ? "<p>Thanks, message sent.</p>" : "<p>That didn't send. Try again.</p>";
});

On the free plan, the plain HTML version sends visitors to Formspree's own confirmation page, because custom redirects start on Personal. The fetch() version avoids that, since the visitor never leaves your page.

Formspree's free plan, in detail

What you get on Free Limit
Submissions 50 a month, shared across every form on the account
Submission history 30 days
Forms Unlimited
Linked notification emails 2
Team seats 1
File uploads Not included
Custom redirect after submit Not included (visitors see Formspree's confirmation page)
Spam protection Basic automated filtering and reCAPTCHA
Integrations Email and chat plugins, including Slack and Discord

The 50-submission limit is per account, not per form. Three forms on one site share the same 50. A contact form that gets two inquiries a day uses it up in less than four weeks, before counting any spam.

Formspree emails you at 50%, 75%, and 90% of your monthly allowance, and again when you go over. Its docs don't say what happens to submissions sent after the cap, so treat 50 as a ceiling and upgrade before you reach it if the form matters.

Formspree pricing, plan by plan

Plan Billed monthly Billed yearly Submissions a month History File uploads Seats
Free $0 $0 50 30 days None 1
Personal $15/mo $120/yr ($10/mo) 200 Unlimited 1 GB 1
Professional $30/mo $240/yr ($20/mo) 2,000 Unlimited 5 GB 2
Business $90/mo $720/yr ($60/mo) 20,000 Unlimited 10 GB Unlimited
Custom Contact sales Contact sales Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited

The pricing page shows $10, $20, and $60 in its comparison tables. Those are the yearly prices divided by twelve. Paying month to month costs $15, $30, and $90.

What's paid-only on Formspree

Most of the features a business form needs start on a paid plan:

  • Personal ($15/mo) adds custom redirects, file uploads, CSV and JSON export, multiple "To" emails, and productivity plugins such as Google Sheets, Airtable, Notion, and Trello.
  • Professional ($30/mo) adds webhooks, Zapier, CRM and newsletter plugins (HubSpot, Klaviyo, Zendesk, and Stripe among them), autoresponders, API access, and advanced spam control.
  • Business ($90/mo) adds a custom honeypot, custom spam rules, a rules engine, custom email templates and domains, and priority support.

In practice, sending submissions to a webhook or Zapier, or sending visitors an automatic reply, means the $30 Professional plan.

What Formspree really costs per 1,000 submissions

Plan prices only tell part of the story, because you pay for the plan whose cap covers your volume. Here's what each volume costs on Formspree, billed monthly, next to GoodInbound:

Monthly submissions Formspree plan needed Formspree cost Per 1,000 GoodInbound plan GoodInbound cost Per 1,000
500 Professional $30/mo $60 Free $0 $0
2,500 Business $90/mo $36 Pro $29/mo $11.60
10,000 Business $90/mo $9 Pro + 3 packs of 3,000 $119/mo $11.90
50,000 Custom Contact sales — Enterprise Contact sales —

The pattern: Formspree is expensive at low and middle volumes because its Personal plan stops at 200 and Professional at 2,000. Above about 10,000 a month, its Business plan becomes the cheaper plain endpoint. Billing yearly cuts Formspree's prices by a third.

The comparison isn't quite like for like. Every GoodInbound submission is screened and labeled, which Formspree doesn't do at any price.

Is Formspree safe?

Formspree says it is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR and CCPA compliant. It validates submissions server-side and runs its own machine-learning spam filter, Formshield, on every submission. reCAPTCHA is available on every plan, and you can restrict a form to your own domain. Its system limits cap each form at 20 submissions a minute and uploads at 25 MB a file.

What it doesn't screen for is people. Formshield and reCAPTCHA are built to stop bots and obvious junk. An SEO agency, a dev shop, or a recruiter with a real name and a real work email passes both, and their pitch arrives looking exactly like a lead. If those are most of your spam, a stronger CAPTCHA won't help, because the person sending it can solve one.

When the free plan is enough, and when it isn't

Formspree Free is a good fit for:

  • A portfolio or personal site that gets a handful of messages a month.
  • A prototype, an MVP, or a form you're still testing.
  • A low-traffic form where losing a message now and then is fine.

It's a poor fit for:

  • Lead generation. At 50 a month, one busy week or one spam wave can use up the allowance.
  • Client sites. No redirects on Free, and webhooks need the $30 plan.
  • Paid traffic. Ad campaigns bring bots and fake form fills. Each one counts against the cap and, if it's tracked as a conversion, teaches your ad platform to find more of the same.

If you outgrow it

If the free plan is too small or the spam is the real problem, compare the options in Formspree alternatives. GoodInbound is a drop-in replacement: create a form, copy its HTML action URL, and swap it into your form's action. The free plan covers 500 submissions a month, and each one is labeled lead, review, spam, junk, or bot with a reason. For the full setup, see HTML form to email.
